Combined platelet-rich plasma and lipofilling treatment provides great improvement in facial skin-induced lesion regeneration for scleroderma patient…

2017

Background The use of stem cells, including mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), for regenerative medicine is gaining interest for the clinical benefits so far obtained in patients. This study investigates the use of adipose autologous tissue in combination with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) to improve the clinical outcome of patients affected by systemic sclerosis (SSc). Methods Adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (AD-MSCs) and PRPs were purified from healthy donors and SSc patients. The multilineage differentiation potential of AD-MSCs and their genotypic–phenotypic features were investigated. A cytokine production profile was evaluated on AD-MSCs and PRPs from both healthy subjects and SSc pat…

SURGICAL CORRECTION OF LABIA MINORA HYPERTROPHY, A PERSONAL TECHNIQUE

2018

Background. Labia minora hypertrophy is a congenital or acquired condition in which both labia minora (or more rarely only one) protrude beyond the edge of the labia majora. The authors present a surgical technique of volumetric reduction of hypertrophic labia minora, associated with lipofilling of the labia majora. Methods. Between 2005 and 2014, 27 patients underwent surgical reduction of labia minora, as described by Altier and Rouzier. The indications for surgical treatment varied and were as follows: interference with sexual intercourse; poor hygiene; difficulty wearing tight-fitting pants; difficulty while performing sporting activities such as cycling; aesthetic complaints. The surgi…

Adipose stem cells on the basis of tumor transformation

Mesenchymal stem cells thanks to their differentiated multipotent ability are considered the most promising candidate for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. The source of mesenchymal stem cells up to about 20 years was represented by the bone marrow, but due to their limited amount of cells together with a very invasive and painfull surgical treatment, poorly accepted by patients, has led the scientific community to investigate an alternative mesenchymal stem cells source with similar properties. In particular, the adipose tissue has attracted the greatest interest thanks to its relative abundance, the easy of availability and the large amounts of mesenchymal stem cells which are…
